Dr. Brown from the United NationsStudents from 19 OCPS Schools entered art in the 3rd Annual Peace Art Exhibit sponsored by the OCPS Service Learning Program and the Global Peace Film Festival! Channel 6 News and the GPFF sponsored the reception and award ceremony that took place at the Rotunda, City of Orlando Mayor's Office, 400 South Orange Avenue on Wednesday, September 17, 2008.Parents, students, teachers, principals and community leaders were present to honor the winners. Dr. Brown, key note speaker, from Friends of the United Nations addressed the importance of how young people see global peace in simple and beautiful ways - as indicated by their honest and true forms of expression in their art. The top winners' art for each grade-specific category will be included in the United Nations calendar for global peace.

Hillcrest really did great at the Peace Art Exhibit! A number of our entries were displayed at the Rotunda downtown. These students include: Justine Brousset - 5th grade, Hallie Guzman - 3rd grade, Cameron Caicedo - 3rd grade, Matthew Riordan - 5th grade, Illiana Worthington - 5th grade, and Nina Hoang - 3rd grade.
