Art

Hillcrest artists are often displayed in the front office, the art room and throughout the school. Student work will also be exhibited at the Winter Park Art Festival and other local events. Please come see our beautiful displays made by our talented artists. Each and every student here at Hillcrest is an artist. Our school is fortunate to have this incredible talent!

Art and the FCAT?
Yes, there are skills that are taught and reinforced through our art program here at Hillcrest. Students are encouraged to think creatively and use problem-solving skills in their artwork.

Music

In that music is such an important part of the lives of all people and cultures we at Hillcrest offer a quality and comprehensive music program. In this environment the students acquire the knowledge and skills to become musically literate.

Our students have an active participation in the processes of creating, performing, and responding. With the outstanding facilities we have on our campus there is ample opportunity for each child to discover his/her own creative potential. Every student in grades K through 5 is enrolled for a 40 minute music lesson in a five week cycle.

The Ambassador Choir is open to third, fourth and fifth graders via audition.

As a Foreign Language Academy, our music program is international in scope. It balances both the musical and cultural features of any song, dance or instrumental performance. It contributes to the students' perspectives of self-image and the students' relationship to others, locally and globally.

Physical Education

Physical Education is an integral part of total education which contributes to the development of the individual through the natural medium of physical activity . We believe that all children within our society have the right to receive instruction and acquire skills in all aspects of education.

The environment in physical education fosters physical, emotional, intellectual and social development. Children are encouraged to achieve success in each of these areas. The philosophy that "a healthy body and a sound mind complement each other" is the basis for our physical education curriculum.
