Severe Weather Dismissal (MS Word) (PDF)

Visitors:

You are welcome to visit Hillcrest at any time. The Orange County School Board policy requires that all visitors check in at the main office before proceeding to any area of the campus or classrooms. We will furnish you with directions to your destination and a "Visitor Badge," which must be worn at all times while on campus.

Student Arrival:

Students may arrive on campus at 7:30 a.m. If the student is enrolled in the morning extended day program, he/she may arrive as early as 6:30 a.m. Please do not arrive or enter the buildings before that time.

Transportation:

Please send a note, with signature, to your child's teacher if you wish to change your child's mode of transportation. The school cannot allow students to alter their normal routine without this notice.

Clothing:

Hillcrest urges students to wear a Hillcrest shirt as part of the voluntary uniform guidelines. All clothing should be comfortable and should not intefere with the learning process. Shoes with backs must be worn at all times. Students should wear clothes that are appropriate for the school environment. If a student is observed wearing inappropriate clothing, the parent will be contacted to provide suitable clothing. Orange County Public Schools Dress Code

Please put names on coats, jackets, bookbags, etc. Lost and Found items will be stored in the cafeteria.

Early Release:

If it is necessary for a student to leave during the school day, please come to the office to sign the student out of school. Students are not permitted to leave during school hours unless they are signed out by a parent or guardian. Students may not be excused after 1:45 unless arrangements have been made in advance.

Absences and Excuses:

Students may be excused when the absence is due to personal illness, serious illness or death in the student's family, or to observe recognized holidays of the student's religious faith. A written explanation must be sent by the parent or guardian in order for the absence to be excused. If the absence is for more than three days, a doctor's certificate may be required.

Traffic control and parking:

Parents are asked to pick up and drop off students at the designated areas. All car riders are to be picked up in the car loop. If driving, and picking up your child(ren) on foot, please park on one of the side streets on the south side of the campus, near the bus loop. All walkers, including those mentioned above, bus riders, and bicycle riders are dismissed through the bus loop gate. The car loop is to be used only for drop off, pick up, and access to the parking lot. Parking in the circle, even for a short time, creates an unsafe situation. The bus loading zone is reserved for buses only.

The area outside of the cafeteria is reserved for deliveries, and is a "loading zone."
