Bilingual Vietnamese Education

The primary goal of the Hillcrest Language Academy's Vietnamese/One Way Bilingual Education model is to provide students the ability to develop bilingual and bi-literate proficiencies in both English and Vietnamese as well as to ensure that students continue to achieve academically at grade level.

Targeted Objectives

• Establish bilingual education as an enrichment program for Vietnamese second language learners
• Promote bilingualism and bi-literacy in two languages
• Prepare students for the global workforce
• Seek cross-cultural understanding among linguistically diverse groups of students
• Acquire academic language needed to express key concepts for grade level courses
• Attain proficiency, confidence and academic ability required for both state and national standards
• Provide unique opportunities for cross-cultural communication between Vietnamese-American students and students in other parts of the world
